first page in like……..a while now…
took a break to do some INKTOBER art this year (which was a lot of fun). also reworked this page a few different times before finding something i was happy with. realistically, this will probably be my last page of 2025 since holidays are gonna keep me busy.
so, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! i used to always do a quick simple holiday special art. we’ll see if i have the bandwith this year ^^;

getting closer and closer to that 200-page count…even if it’s going slowly xD
so i mentioned earlier that i’ve been trying out some new word bubble shapes in this chapter instead of just the usual oval ones. still not sure if i like how it’s going. they tend to look just a bit…busy i guess. i don’t love the idea of just going back to ovals though, so i’ll give it some thought. any opinions??
also kinda feel like i think the last panel would have looked better without the bottom jaw, but in concept, i liked the idea of the hand coming out of the mouth. oh well, you win some, you lose some

heyo, ‘nother page update. wanted to post this yesterday, but things got busy :\
had a lot of fun playing around with some different styles, like the loose sketchy look to the middle panel and Levi’s silly face. i miiiiiiiiight have pushed the silly face style a bit to much into the angular look, but it was fun to just do something different and not worry too much about if it matched the overall aesthetic
i do feel better about how the crosshatching is coming out though

unusual mid-week page post (plus only a few days after the last one, madness!)
anyways, been feeling pretty inspired to sink more time into MitM and i’m mostly just trying to spit out as much as possible. between this and Eclectic Fidelity, been really happy to get more artwork done ^^
(might look into actually posting some of those videos here too eventually, just for kicks)
as for this page…urgh…
really struggled with trying to keep the dialogue and “explaining” down to a minimum. i felt…okay about it, but once it was done and i reread it one last time…oh boy. i feel like Drake’s exclamation of “Hold On” doesn’t make sense. it feels like it reads as “ok, hold on tight” followed by him explaining what happened, BUT it was supposed to read like “wait a minute, we have to be dead because i saw my life flash before my eyes.”
welp! live and learn i suppose :\

anyways finally wrapping up this flashback sequence that originally i had hoped i could tell in just 3 or 4 pages, but i’m happy i was able to keep it to just roughly 6. the pacing felt a little better this way and i was able to sneak in some more lore and character shenanigans.
page 186 is supposed to have that similar feel that 180 had. i wasn’t super happy with how the dark background looked the first time around with the dark pencil work, so i decided to fill it in with marker this time.
it still looks…….okay…i guess…

hi! hello!
i’m finally all caught up with posting short page commentaries for the stuff that’s been up for awhile. I mentioned it elsewhere, so i’ll restate it here, but i’m currently trying to shoot for finishing at least 1 MitM page a month, and maybe 2 on good months (woah!)
Been working on more content for my YouTube channel “Eclectic Fidelity” too and i’ll try to maybe get some of that posted here as well just to have all my projects in one place
as for other big news…
Mutt in the Middle has been REMASTERED!!?? SORT OF????
at the very least it’s gone “sepia-toned” xD
when i first started posting my MitM comic pages at 900 pixel wide, 144 DPI, that seemed like more than necessary. while you could make an argument i was lowballing it even back then, that is clearly unideal nowadays. so i set out to rescan my collection with a higher resolution.
since i was already putting in the time to get higher quality scans, i kinda wanted to do something else to make it feel more worth it. i’ve always liked the look of the textured page thumbnail teases i’ve been doing for awhile now. combine that with the fact that several of my older pages have seen a LOT of wear and tear, i decided to throw that texture over everything to help smooth out the rough pages and give things a slightly different look than just black and white.
i’ll probably still post my normal unedited versions up on FA so they stay consistent there though. if you really miss that B&W look, check ’em out there.

felt like i really had to describe how this hex thing worked though, so yeah. also been enjoying leaving a little more of my initial sketch in the final work. i used to always erase as much as i could before moving onto shading. now i try to leave as much as i can as long as it’s not super obnoxious (like some of my initial misspelled dialogue blurbs)

have you noticed my word balloons are a lot more…weird?
i’ve never been good at drawing precise circles (or ovals) and the practice of getting juuuuuusssst the right shape for my word balloons has always been one of my least favorite parts of each page. so! i thought i’d try giving them personality for a change. lots of weird wiggles and incomplete strokes. trying to find a nice balance where they’re not distracting, but still unique
