Designer and Comic Illustrator (and music lover!)
Sorry about the late update this week everybody ^^;
There was a lot of writing and rewriting for this page. I struggled for quite a while on the dialogue and all the facial expressions, which I’m still kinda at odds with for some of the results…
Panel layout also took a bit of extra effort. I played with several designs before finally landing on this more ambiguous layout that kinda challenges the reader to pick a conversation to focus on. You can read the panels in βorderβ jumping between each conversation with each panel, or follow the word bubbles and go through one conversation at a time.
Does it work? Heck, I don’t know, I’m asking you!
Well whatever the case, it was a lot of fun to try a new, edgy idea like this one out π
Hey got this one done in time this week π
Having a lot of fun doing different expressions…Don’t really know what else to say……so yeah…
Here we are; the finished product! So maybe this didn’t get done over the weekend, but I got it up for “optional-updates Tuesdays” (which I never use…)
It’s been a lot of fun writing out the dialogue and transitions for this conversation (including the next few coming pages). Having two conversations going on at the same time is difficult from a writing and artistic perspective.
I’m gonna try to keep the conversations related or mirrored in a way, so that it’s not completely unrelated and jumpy. We’ll just have see how it goes :\
Also more dark inside lighting. Yay. >:(
Cause Dayton is “hungry like the wolf!” XD
The classic rock fan in me couldn’t help myself :3
Also, posting…this……at 3:30…AM…..so……..tired….. *ZZzz*
Yet another new character!! This time we get to meet the father π
Fun fact: While Janice is one of the first character designs I did for this comic, Ray’s design wasn’t even tackled before I started this page! lol X3
There were a few tricky things to draw for this page (like hands, as always), but I was really satisfied with the final product.
Poor Dayton, always out of the loop π
Mr. Connors doesn’t seem to understand why Dayton is so quick to refer to Janice as his sister when he can’t even consider calling Ray his father, even though neither of them are related.
Also, is that another new character looming on the horizon? :O
Who knows! Tune in next time to find out ;D
Well here is your formal introduction to Janice in case all of you really wanted it. Also apparently Mr. Connors is quite the Ladies’ Man ;3
He’s just trying to be gentlemanly…I think.
It’s kinda funny after the heavily “background-filled” panels from the last couple of pages, this page is almost entirely character based. It was a fun chance to try out some new expressions ^^
Yay!! New character finally!!!
I’ve been itching to show off Janice for some time now. Joel and Janice were the first two characters I ever designed for this comic project (you’re still gonna have to wait to see Joel for a while though >.<)
Hope you like her, she'll probably stick around for a while :3
All these backgrounds are killing me…but they are really good practice and I do feel like I’m improving on the backdrops at least a little.
Sorry that this page came out a little funky. I tried to test out some different word bubble locations and panel layout to see if a reader’s eye could easily move throughout the page. What I ended up with kinda works, but I feel it is still a little too confusing :\
We finally get to see the Harlow’s house. Yay! And a poorly drawn horse and buggy. Yay?

Yay! New chapter! New character! π
Someone commented on how they really liked my “page border” that was used on my original Chapter 1 cover that featured a background rather than a single, unshaded character. So I decided to bring the border back since just a solo character for a cover seemed lacking to me.
Can’t wait to dive into the next chapter :3
