Designer and Comic Illustrator (and music lover!)
All these backgrounds are killing me…but they are really good practice and I do feel like I’m improving on the backdrops at least a little.
Sorry that this page came out a little funky. I tried to test out some different word bubble locations and panel layout to see if a reader’s eye could easily move throughout the page. What I ended up with kinda works, but I feel it is still a little too confusing :\
We finally get to see the Harlow’s house. Yay! And a poorly drawn horse and buggy. Yay?
Yay! New chapter! New character! π
Someone commented on how they really liked my “page border” that was used on my original Chapter 1 cover that featured a background rather than a single, unshaded character. So I decided to bring the border back since just a solo character for a cover seemed lacking to me.
Can’t wait to dive into the next chapter :3
Yeah! Another chapter finished π
That background was a whole lot of fun to draw. I started off with my one point perspective and guidelines from that point to keep the drawing prospectively accurate. However I wasn’t pleased with how rigid the buildings and street was coming out, so I “messed up” the perspective to make it feel a little wonky and imperfect.
With the chapter done does that mean break time for the comic? Actually no, it normally would though. Since I already took my Costa Rica break recently let’s just say the chapter break was during then. Besides I have a really solid idea of where to take the next chapter anyways.
I hope y’all enjoyed this chapter and that the next one to come will be just as good if not better. Thank y’all for your continued support!!
Sorry for updating a day late again guys ^^; Once I figure out my work schedule for the summer I should hopefully become consistent with my updates.
It would appear that Dayton is still uneasy about the whole “being hunted down by bandits” ordeal. The guards seemed to brush off the incident with no worries though…
Not the best page I ever did. Several lettering errors and the background’s perspective gets a little wonky especially in the last panel. I almost pulled the “lazy card” and wasn’t gonna draw the background for the first panel. I thought about leaving out the border and making it a “border-less” panel like the second last panel. But it felt really empty especially since my rough draft of the page included a background…
Once again not the best page, but oh well, “you win some, you loss some.”
Tada!! I’m back! (hope at least someone missed me…)
If you guys haven’t guessed it yet, Chapter 2 is really close to finishing. I had wanted to get these last couple pages done before my Costa Rica trip so that I could post them before I left or something, but as they say βthe best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.β
Had a lot of fun with this page. I feel that my art is actually beginning to develop more, that or I’m just full of myself >.< However I feel that my writing still has a lot of room for improvement. This project originally began as a way for me to push myself as an artist, not really a writer. Don't get me wrong I do have a plan of where to take the story, but because I write each page as I draw them, without sketching or writing ahead, things turn out a bit...rough to say the least.
Anyways I always appreciate any critique any of you may have and I really do listen to it. It's up to you readers if you want this comic to really improve ^^
Hey everybody! Sorry about not getting a page up last week, finals have just finished here at college and I’m exhausted XP
Meant to get this up yesterday, but it took me longer than expected.
Experimented with some more stuff on this page since I try to do something new each time. A lot of hard body positions to draw this time around, but I was mostly impressed with the outcome.
I’m really sorry guys, but I didn’t get those extra pages done for while I’m gone to Costa Rica. Considering that each page takes an average of 8 hours to draw, and I need to draw 3 of them, and I leave in less than 72 hours, it just ain’t gonna happen…
So expect Mutt in the Middle to take a quick three week break while I’m sunning it up down in Costa Rica :3
Hey everybody! Sorry about the late update ^^;
It’s been a busy week here O_o
Yay! More action! Tried experimenting with some new stuff on this page…
Poor Dayton, he picks up the sword for 4 seconds before it gets yanked out of his hands π
Hey everybody! Sorry I didn’t update this morning. I was exhausted last night so I decided to finish the page today.
This page was a little tricky to draw, but I got her done, and I’m mostly content with the final product >:3
Now that Mel and Drake are in the clear let’s jump back to Levi and his pursuers :3
Why are scene transitions so hard?! >.<
I'm pretty content with this one, but it took forever to come up with this idea of two panels of feet running in different directions...
Odd page. Quite a few faces, not many figures, very few backgrounds. So...yeah...cool.
Well Drake just kinda flung himself onto this page :3
I feel that this page came out only “okay.” It’s a little messier at places than I would care for. I also had to use any kind of markers laying around that I could find because my normal markers are missing O_o
According to normal practice didn’t finish this page till 4 AM this morning, so my brain is feeling kinda fried…..
