Just some insights into what makes each of my pages tick…

Well we wrap it up with the bandits and come back to Dayton now. Up until now Ryke has fit that cold, silent role pretty well…
Webcomic about a mutt and his friends finding a place in life.

The third and final page for the extra Christmas pages! π
GAHH!! NOOOOOO! The scanner cut off so much around all the edges of the page D:< I've been back to using my old scanner for this week and I knew it was bad about doing this, but I didn't realize it was this bad. When I select the largest scanning format (which happens to be the enormous size of "letter," 8.5x11) it is actually scanning at 8x10.5! >π
When I get back to my apartment in about two weeks I’ll make sure to rescan all these pages. But those of you with really keen eyes might have noticed that my other scanner scans everything slightly crooked, so there is no winning either way! DX
Well, that’s my scanner rant for the day. Anything about the page itself? ……there’s a fourth wall break?
The “plot” thickens!! XD
Personally I feel that my comic has lacked any plot or general direction up to this point. Now it feels like I have a future goal for the comic to actually start pursuing -_-;
Anyways I was also amused over how the top panel looks so…familiar……
I have returned!!
Finals week sucked, but i made it through and now I’m on Christmas break. So to help make up for the absence of comic pages recently I have a small Christmas week surprise.
This extra update on “occasional update Tuesdays,” and one tomorrow on Wednesday; as well as the usual Thursday update!!
This page was really fun and really challenging in places (a whole lot of new stuff I’ve never drawn before). Also I apologize for Levi’s super, ultra, poofy hair in the last panel. I really don’t know how it happened…
P.S. I’m posting this actually on Monday because I won’t be able to post it tomorrow till really late ^^;
Well, here’s the next page. Sorry about not getting one done last week, the laziness of Thanksgiving break kicked in pretty hard π
So side note, but as this comic has progressed I’ve obviously begun to see my strengths and weaknesses. Personally I feel that my artistic βstyleβ didn’t really develop till somewhere during chapter 2, so I would say that my art skills are what have improved the greatest since I started (but I still have a long way to go!). However, my writing skills are what I still have practically no faith in…
I don’t know, I guess we’ll have to just sit around and wait for me to actually draw and write more pages to truly figure out how bad my writing is O_o
lol just kidding. Got the page done late last night π
Couldn’t fall asleep and didn’t really want to do homework, so I finished this page.
Poor Drake. He always seems to be the character whose expression I goof up the most when I ink the pages -_-
Next page, a little late, but hey it’s up π
Nothing really to say about this page except: New character! X3
Hey, guess who’s back XD
Yup, here’s this ragtag group again.
I have mixed opinions on how this page came out. The word bubbles feel really disjointed to me at times, some background details got goofed, and a few of the expressions for the characters felt slightly off…
Negative criticism aside, it was fun to come back to these characters, and tease at a new one! :O
A little late maybe, but got it done π
The first two panels and the last panel took a little extra time, but I hope it was worth it. Took a while to also decide on how to do the “flashback” or “memory” panels. I noticed after finishing the page how simple or short the page felt compared to the last couple because not a lot happens on this page. Anyways, random little things i notice as the artist and writer π
Well, next page is up and running.
Had some fun laying out the panels for this page, especially the bottom portion. The middle two panels were also something new that I tried. I wanted to create the large, angled panel to dynamically stretch across the page, but I wanted a very small, symmetrical panel to overlay on the top of it to create a “calm” panel. This, with the addition of Ray placed outside of the panel in the foreground, seemed like an interesting composition to me. But then again, maybe I’m just weird X3
Compared to previous “talkative” pages recently I really wanted to make this page feel quite and tense. Hope that this page is filled with as many moods as I got from drawing it ^^
